Which was exactly what she needed to call on the Elementals and ask for a haus-alvar, one of the little domestic Earth Elementals that enjoyed living alongside humans, bringing them luck and domestic peace. For this, she needed only what she had brought up in her portmanteau, along with some sweet cakes she had bought from a vendor at the railway station.
