A collection of stories by George Lewis Becke (1855 –1913) was an Australian short-story writer and novelist. A frequent traveler to the South Pacific islands, Becke reflected his experience in many of his works. “By Reef and Palm”is written in such an unpretentious style, with rawness and depth, which can be referred to realism or naturalism. But for all that Beck often captivates readers with the gripping plot.
