Mary Cary that was published for the first time in 1910, is written from the point of view of Mary Cary herself, who is an orphan of twelve years old and who keeps a diary where she describes all the events that happen to her. As we find out, she lost her parents when she was three years old and has to grow up very quickly. Mary lives in an orphanage where she finds friends and enemies and is changing into a strong and mature young woman.
