Mathilda
The second novel of Mary Shelley, a British novelist, short story writer, dramatist, essayist, biographer, and travel writer, best known for her Gothic novel Frankenstein. The story is based on a father's incestuous desire for his daughter, the theme considered to be scandalous, particularly since its author was a woman. The book, written in 1819, remained unpublished during Shelley’s lifetime.
