Heman White Chaplin (1847-1924) was an American humourist and author. He graduated from Harvard University in 1867 and worked as a lawyer. He sometimes wrote under the pseudonyms C. H. White and H. W. C., and contributed to Harper's Monthly and the Century Magazine. His works include: By the Sea (1887), Eli (1887), Five Hundred Dollars, and Other Stories of New England Life (1887), In Madeira Place (1887), The New Minister's Great Opportunity (1887), Saint Patrick (1887) and The Village Convict (1887).
