The author's latter to John Wentworth, editor and proprietor of the Chicago Democrat, written in 1842 by Joseph Smith (1805-1844), an American religious figure. The writing contained a series of short doctrinal statements that later became known as the Articles of Faith. Here Smith summarized many of the basic beliefs of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
